Four Running Horses - Commissioned Painting

I painted ‘Four Running Horses’  within the home of where is was commissioned to be hung, in St. George Utah. The very exciting thing about this painting is that from start to finish this painting was completed in a total of 3 days! My customer in this case also actually worked along side me on this painting. This was both instrumental in allowing me to teach her some very advanced painting skills, while also very helpful in that we were able to complete this painting together much faster than if I had been working on it alone. In many ways this was an ideal setup for both myself and my customer. I welcome more arrangements like this one for the future!

Above is the wall my collectors wanted this painting to complete.

As well as the 76″ x 52″ canvas, which I first built myself to ensure the painting would fit the wall best. I built stretcher bars, then stretched and gessoed the canvas before I then went into my beginning sketch. For steps on how to stretch your own canvas visit my page ‘How to Stretch a Canvas’.

Above is the room we worked in, and the finished painting seen on the wall from a far.

I was sure while painting to take in colors from the surrounding decor of the house since it is to make it’s home in this place for many years to come.
