Native American Still Life Painting
Hello everyone,
I thought I would share with you the process of painting a recent 24″ by 36″ Southwestern still life. Here in the first image you will notice I am just looking to get the canvas completely covered with basic tones. I am working in acrylic here so speed is essential because of the quick drying time. You will notice I keep a spray bottle handy to spritz my canvas and my palette if necessary.
It’s important to get your background laid in first. Afterward you’ll notice I begin to jump around as I finish various areas. I have included a few pics of several stages. One thing to keep In mind when working in acrylic is that it always drys darker than what your looking at. So keep that in mind. I always rework areas after I’m done to adjust my tones and hues.
The painting is almost completed here. I will take a final shot when it is framed and on the clients wall.
