Commissioned Painting

This is a preparatory sketch used to figure out roughly my composition for a commissioned painting measuring 52″ by 36″ vertically.  As you can see I figure out my measurements first and then begin to grid my design for transfer to my canvas.

Here is my canvas with my design starting to be roughed in. After I sketch in my composition I will use a acrylic spray as a fixative for my sketch so it doesn’t smudge or smear as I am working.

As I paint, I usually begin by roughing in the background first. Always remember adjustments will take place continually as you work.

My goal is always to rough in as much of the painting as I can in one sitting.

As you can see the painting begins to take on a life of it’s own. I am still not finished with this piece, so check back later for an updated view. Also, if you are interested in commissioning me to do a painting or mural for you, please feel free to contact me through my blog or through Hueys Fine Art.
